Q. What to do if the Fair Price Shop denies to supply to me on the ground that stock has been exhausted?

A. You can register complaint with the concerned Food & Supply Officer(FSO)/Zonal Assistant Commissioner or to the Control Room at the Headquarter of the Food & Supplies department by dialing 1967 or 1800110841.

Q. What to do if the Fair Price Shop denies me sugar or other articles on the ground that consumer card is invalid on account of non-drawal of ration for more than six months?

A. Your card is not invalid if you don't purchase food articles from the FPS. However, you may make complaint against such a FPS owner with the Food & Supplies Officer (FSO)/Assistant Commissioner (AC) or to the Control Room at the Headquarter of the Food & Supplies department.

Q. What to do if the Fair Price Shop denies me sugar unless I also draw wheat and rice?

A. No FPS holder can so insist. You can register a complaint against the FPS with the FSO/AC or to the Control Room at the Headquarter of the Food & Supplies department.

Q. What to do if the quality of articles sold at the Fair Price Shop is not in order?

A. You can compare the food articles with the sample on display at the FPS. If you are not satisfied, you can register a complaint with the FSO/AC or to the Control Room at the Headquarter of the Food & Supplies department at 1967 or 1800110841.

Q. What to do if the fair price shop charges a supply for in excess of the price fixed by the Govt.?

A. You may register complaint against the shop with the concerned FSO/AC or to the Call Centre 's Toll Free Nos. of the Food & Supplies department.

Q. What to do if the Fair Price Shop remains closed during the hours it is required to remain open?

A. You can complain against the Fair Price Shop to the concerned FSO/AC  or to the Call Centre 's Toll Free Nos. of the Food & Supplies department.

Q. What to do in case no acknowledgement is given for the application for consumer card/blue card submitted by me in the Circle Office?

A. You should insist on it and, if inspite of that, you don't get it, you may register a complaint with FSO/Zonal AC etc.

Q. What to do in case illegal gratification is demanded from me for grant of consumer card?

Q. Who should I complain to in case I am not granted the license applied for to deal in any essential commodity?

A. You can submit an appeal to Commissioner (Food & Supplies), Govt. of NCT of Delhi, K-Block, Vikas Bhawan, I.P. Estate, New Delhi-110002. Tel. No. 23378759

Q. Who should I contact in case my licensed premise is frequently visited by officials of the Department at short intervals causing me undue harassment?

A. For any kind of harassment, you may contact the concerned Licensing Authority or/and Commissioner (Food & Supplies), K- Block, Vikas Bhawan, I.P.Estate, New Delhi-2.

Q. How do I know whether a person seeking to enter and inspect my place of business has the authority to do so?

A. You may ask for identity card of the inspecting official issued by the department before allowing him/her to enter and inspect your premises.

Q. Who to contact in case decision on my application for grant of a license/authorization for a FPS is not communicated to me within a reasonable time?

A. You may contact the concerned zonal Asstt. Commissioner or the concerned Addl. Commissioner at their addresses mentioned in the Directory section or Commissioner (Food & Supplies), Govt. of NCT of Delhi, K-Block, Vikas Bhawan, I.P. Estate, New Delhi-110002.

Q. Who to contact in case the quality of sugar/wheat/rice being supplied to my FPS is poor?

A. You may contact Food & Supplies Officer of the concerned Circle whose address is mentioned under the section "Field Offices" or the concerned zonal Asstt. Commissioner whose addresses is mentioned in the Directory section.

Q. Who to contact in case, for reasons beyond my control, I have been unable to submit an indent supported by the requisite payment in time?

A. You may contact Food & Supplies Officer of the concerned circle or the concerned zonal Asstt. Commissioner.

Q. Who to contact in case supplies are not made to me within a reasonable time, even after submission of indents and payment of price in time?

A. You may contact Food & Supplies Officer of the concerned circle or the concerned zonal Asstt. Commissioner.

Q. Who can file a complaint under the Consumer Protection Act?

A. The following can file complaint under the Act:-

  • A consumer or
  • Any voluntary consumer association registered under the Companies Act, 1956 (1 of 1956) or under any other law for the time being in force; or
  • the Central Government or any State Government
